The Diversional Therapy Association of New South Wales is the professional association committed to the growth and development of the Diversional Therapy profession.

Diversional Therapy is a client-centered practice that recognises that leisure and recreational experiences are the right of all individuals. Diversional Therapy practitioners provide, facilitate and co-ordinate leisure and recreational activities which are designed to support, challenge and enhance the psychological, spiritual, social, emotional and physical wellbeing of individuals who experience barriers to participation in leisure and recreational pursuits affecting their quality of life.

Redleaf College is a registered training organisation that specialises in education and consultancy in the diversional therapy, leisure and health and aged care sectors. We offer workshops, a national symposium, short courses and services related to the achievement of best practice service provision.

We have an annual workshop program designed specifically for people providing diversional therapy and leisure and recreation services and for those working in aged care. Workshops for 2008 include Activity ideas for day and respite services, care plans and documentation, ACFI, Continuous Quality Improvement, dementia and recreation participation and practical activities for leisure programs. Redleaf holds a National symposium each year in Brisbane QLD - 31st July - 1st August. This event focuses on best practice approaches and provides a forum for networking and an exchange of ideas.

Alzheimer's Australia (Qld)

Alzheimer's Australia (Qld)'s mission is to reduce the impact of dementia on the community.

We offer a range of services for people with dementia, family carers, industry workers and anyone who wants to know more about memory loss, dementia or good brain health.

Our services include:

National Dementia Helpline 1800 100 500 which offers information and support from trained advisors from 8am to 5pm weekdays.

. Dementia and Memory Community Centres located around the state which offer resources, support and activities for people with dementia, their families and anyone with memory concerns.

. Free Community Education a wide range of topics for people interested in dementia, memory and healthy ageing throughout Queensland.

. Living with Memory Loss is a free small-group program for people with early stage dementia who wish to take control of their lives and plan for their future.

. Training Programs a range of specialised courses with nationally recognised qualifications for industry workers.

. Dementia Behaviour Management Advisory Service which provides clinical support, education and practical strategies for people caring for a person with dementia who is experiencing behaviours that have an impact on their care.
