Aged Care Presentation - 'From Dream To Reality'

From dream to reality tells the story of the beginnings of FutureAge Care, how we started our organisation and our vision for the future. This presentation is a friendly and safe environment for students, community groups and interested parties to be introduced to the world of disabilities, dementia and aged care. Many of our residents, patients and clients are living in facilities, nursing homes or hospitals away from general public knowledge. It can therefore be difficult sometimes for our students, churches and local communities to know and understand their world and the working roles of healthcare staff and support volunteers.

This colourfull and refreshing presentation includes:

- An introduction to aged care and disability communities

- Examples of disabilities, dementia and brain injuries

- Interactive Sensory Enrichment Demonstration

- Practical Session: communicating with a person with dementia

This exciting presentation ends with simple ideas and ways in which we can help connect and feel more comfortable with the elderly and those with disabilities around us in our local community. Are you ready to be inspired and enter into the unknown? This is an interactive and colourful presentation, taking you into the world of disability, dementia and aged care. Tailored for schools, community groups and anyone interested in learning about this special and unique world. Click on the Presentation Flyer pdf above to find out more.

Marketplace© - working lifestyles.

We encourage work activity projects and working tasks as part of a balanced lifestyle for residents: work, rest and play. Opportunities for people to help, keep busy and have purpose to their day, is a true demonstration of meaningful activity and familiar life engagement. We have helped establish working lifestyles and Job Club activities as an option for many aged care facilities.

Marketplace© is a very popular workshop and was awarded a research grant in 2005 by Victoria University. Work tasks for residents are a popular activity in aged care and create avenues for many benefits including:

* person centred care=many residents have stated that they would like to continue working, having a job to do, or returning to their previous working role.

* a sense of future=projects can be ongoing, enhance friendships and working together towards a goal with positive outcomes.

* familiar life engagement=working fills up much of our lives in our younger years, and can define who we are, our skills, interests and achievements.

* promotes opportunities for continued learning and development through the learning of new skills and decision making, and/or re-establishing previous skills gained.

This 1-hour group session includes ideas, practical planning, Job Club, roles for clients with dementia, research and stories from the field, planning and risk assessment. Come along and be inspired…all you need to know to get started.

The Wellbeing Hub: turning an environment of sickness and disability into a hub of wellbeing and activity.

With a focus on your residents and your staff, this workshop is encouraging, inspiring and empowering to say the least. We focus on activities and interventions that especially enhance residents’ wellbeing in key areas such as: reducing anxiety and depression, enhancing appetite and food/hydration activities, pain management through music and imagery intervention, Sensory Rooms and innovative exercise activities.

More facilities are turning to wellbeing enhancing programs for their client groups, and are seeing the short and long term benefits: increased confidence and social participation, feeling less sick, anxious and sad, and this in turn is creating a more positive environment for staff to work in.

Staff will enjoy the demonstrations, get to sample products and ideas themselves, free handouts…all in an environment that will delight and stimulate the senses.
